Mothers Deserve Respect
The way in which a person and/or society treats their mother(s) says everything about the health and core essence of that person and/or society.
Mothers are sacred beings and they deserve respect. Yet, we live in a society and culture that has industrialized and medicalized the birth process as well as belittle the role of a mother. Birth is a sacred, transformational rite of passage for many women. Yet, at this current moment, many women are birthing alone or without support due to the actions and reactions of our state and local governments. In our country, many new mothers barely get time off of work while many cultures around the world almost require a lying in period to recover from birth. And in our culture, we have mainstream media that floods new mothers with the latest photos of a supermodel after birth or instigating mom wars for every decision inside the motherhood transition (home birth vs hospital, vaccinations vs non-vaccinations, cosleeping vs crib, etc).
Our society may want to re-evaluate its values, because, in my opinion, mothers are sacred beings and deserve respect.
When will we start putting HUMAN values over industrial or technology or business values?
